It’s easy to think Jesus has been asleep at the wheel with everything bad happening in the world, especially in the past year. We want to say to Him, “Don’t you care that we are perishing?”. Jesus does care and wants us to trust in Him.
A good parent disciplines their children when they go astray. Just look at all the evil, materialism, and lack of spirituality in the world. Jesus wants to save as many people as possible and sometimes it takes a hardship or trial to get us back on the right track. When a parent disciplines their kid, it doesn’t mean that they don’t love them, but that they do love them. Now we shouldn’t say that every bad thing that happens is God disciplining us, but He does allow some bad things to happen when He determines that it will best bring about a greater good.
We also need to remember that we live in an imperfect world. Because we didn’t trust God, we got kicked out of the garden of Eden and into the hardships that the world offers. Now Jesus opened the doors again to heaven, but until we make it there, we will have to deal with pain, suffering, and death.
The main thing we need to remember is to keep our faith through hardships. We will feel discouraged sometimes, but don’t ever give up. Sometimes, I feel like I am navigating my boat through life and other times I feel like I am just holding on and letting the waves take me where they take me. If we try to fight the waves, we will wear ourselves out and become exhausted. God will lead us where we need to be.
It’s easy to have faith when everything is going great. Our faith is tested when things start falling apart. Sometimes things get so bad that we get knocked down to our foundation. If we have a strong foundation in God, we will never lose everything. We need to keep our eyes on the end game when bad things things happen. Use the bad to become better and at the end of our life we will rejoice in the happiness of heaven.
