It’s easy to be skeptical in life. Being skeptical can sometimes be a good thing because there are many people who try to take advantage of us. I get texts and emails every week trying to trick me into clicking a link that leads to a malicious website. With a little bit of knowledge and some experience, it’s easy to pick out a scam or determine if someone is trying to trick us. Usually, something doesn’t look or sound right. We get an uneasy and unsure feeling when someone is pushing something too hard. Discernment is a good skill to have to be able to pick out the good from the bad.
Faith is even more important to have. If we can’t trust anyone, we will never grow close to anyone and will often find ourselves alone and without the help we need. We need to be able to put our faith in certain people. Faith in Jesus and His message is the ultimate faith to have. Jesus only speaks the truth and He never tries to trick someone into doing something or force someone into loving Him. He gives us the ultimate gift of free will, but if we choose to not love Him, we can’t expect to be invited to the feast He has prepared.
When we put our trust in Jesus, we will be rewarded. Jesus never promises that faith in Him will make this life easy. Following Jesus may even make life harder. However, if we successfully bear the pain, suffering, and sacrifices in this life, we will experience unending joy with Him in the next.
