The shepherds who visited the baby Jesus, made known to others the good news about His birth. Even before Jesus spoke His first word and the world knew what He was like, the news of His birth spread hope throughout the area. Hope is something the world could benefit from today as well.
In a world that has seemed to have forgotten about the good news that Jesus brought, we need to be the ones who provide a constant reminder of Jesus and His message. His message says that those who follow Him and His teachings will have eternal life. His message also says that He loves us and that our sins can be forgiven. The world gives us many messages about what we should strive to do and be. These messages may give us happiness in this relatively short life, but will make us unhappy in the long run.
So how can we best spread Christ’s message? The method we choose depends on what gifts we have. Although, some people have extraordinary gifts and can influence millions of people, we can all make a difference, even in a small way. We should be overjoyed if we are able to help even one person make it to Heaven. Sometimes, all it takes is to be a good example to others to make a difference. There are so many bad examples and role models out there who lead people astray. The world needs the good role models who live the beatitudes, who put God and others first, and who show love wherever they go.
I was just watching the original Matrix movie and was thinking about how the main character, Neo, was having trouble finding who he was. It was his friends who encouraged him the whole time and kept telling him that he was destined to be something great. Neo’s lack of faith almost got him killed, but the love from his friends helped everything eventually click in his mind and he became what he was called to be.
We need to be the friend who shows love to the person in need and guides them in the right direction. We are all destined to be great in Heaven, but some unfortunately get lost along the way. Have faith in Jesus and His message and constantly discern what He is calling us to do. Keep letting your light shine in the world and we will not only change this life for the better, but the next as well.
