Run to Jesus

It always lifts my spirits when my kids run to greet me after I return from a trip. But sometimes I come home to find them glued to their video games or watching videos, barely noticing I’ve walked through the door. This week, we hear about two apostles who ran to Jesus’s tomb after hearing He had risen. They didn’t fully understand what was happening or what they’d find, but they didn’t hesitate—they ran!

Jesus Christ is risen, and we should run to Him, too! This life is just a blink compared to the eternity that awaits us. We don’t know when our time will come, so we must always be ready to meet Jesus. Don’t let life drift by—live each day with purpose, seeking to grow closer to God.

One of the best ways to stay on that path is by setting aside time each day to be with Jesus. There are countless ways to talk to Him. Sometimes I enjoy watching videos that explore aspects of my Catholic faith. Just as people turn to YouTube for home improvement tips, we can use it for spiritual growth as well. But there’s also value in simply sitting in silence, setting distractions aside, and having a quiet conversation with God. Some prefer traditional prayers; others connect through more casual ones. I do a mix of both and try to weave Jesus into the fabric of my daily life.

Invite Him into your joys and your sorrows. Ask Him to walk beside you and remain close. Life can be tough to navigate, and I know I need all the help I can get. The world throws endless distractions our way, constantly trying to drown out God’s voice. Just look at someone engrossed in a game or glued to their phone—often lost in a trance, unaware of the world around them.

When the moment comes for you to meet Jesus face to face, don’t be caught spiritually asleep or distracted. Ask yourself: Where is my heart? What truly matters to me? What is my priority right now? This isn’t the time to slow down or sit back. It’s not the time to walk. It’s time to run!
