I remember when I first learned the truth about Santa Claus and how my belief just evaporated into thin air. Reality smacks us in the face sometimes when we discover the truth. I had a good smack recently when I discovered the truth about the demonic and how very real they are.
I’ve always been taught and have long believed that demons exist, but I never heard of real documented cases of the demonic interacting in the world. This all changed when I listened to Fr. Carlos Martins’ podcast, The Exorcist Files. This podcast contains reenactments of real cases of the demonic from Fr. Martins. If the cases are all true, not only does it prove the existence of Satan and the demonic, but it also proves the existence of God and His angels.
I would highly recommend listening to The Exorcist Files to mature audiences, but younger children may be easily frightened. The podcasts usually show how someone can get involved with the wrong thing and inadvertently invite a demon in their life. The show also re-affirms what things we should stay away from to keep us safer from the influence of evil.
We all have heard stories of haunted houses and ghosts and I was always skeptical of those things, but there are documented cases of just those very things. Most of the time, the ghosts are not lost souls, but actually demons. Haunted houses are usually demonic infestations. I also always believed that psychics and people claiming they talk to the dead were crazy and scammers. There are some psychics who are tricksters and scammers, but there are also some who have tapped into demonic powers to allow them to know things they shouldn’t be able to know. Satan never gives power and knowledge for free. It comes at a price and it usually ends up ruining the person’s life.
I knew about the Ouija board and although I never used one, I always thought that it was an innocent and stupid game to play. However, demons can use the Ouija board as a door into the lives of those who open themselves up to outside influences. An innocent game can very easily turn into something very spiritually dangerous.
When we seek to learn things that we shouldn’t know and gain a power that we shouldn’t have, we are going around God and basically saying we don’t care what He wants, we are going to do what we want to do. We shouldn’t open ourselves to any unknown spirit, only the Holy Spirit. As a person who has lost a baby, I can see the temptation to want to reach out and be able to talk to the loved one. However, God wants us to trust Him when He says that the dead will be resurrected. We also can’t commit an evil act to do good.
Trust in God, talk to God, and work on building our relationship with Him. We need to use discernment in who or what we allow into our lives. Just as taking the wrong drug can do harm to us, getting involved with the wrong thing do great harm to us as well.
