When we see statues of saints toppling, churches burning, and people turning away from the faith, it is easy to get discouraged. We need to remember Jesus’ words that the gates of the netherworld will not prevail. He never said that life would be free from storms, only that evil will not win.
Jesus needed a rock upon which his church would be built. We also need a rock upon which we build our lives. If we don’t have a strong foundation, the storms of life will topple us. Choosing God as our foundation will keep us strong to survive the storms that come our way.
One of my favorite things to do in my spare time is to work on home improvement projects. I love thinking of things that I could change in my house that will make it safer, more efficient, or just look better. Let’s do that with ourselves as well. Every homeowner knows that there is always something that needs to be fixed or upgraded. What do we need to add, fix, or upgrade in our own lives?
